This is the page where we share our current enthusiasms (for those of you who - like Fiona S - have so far resisted Twitter. And besides we can ramble on for more than 140 characters about them...)

British asparagus

Can you ever tire of it? We think not. Ever tried grilling it? Steam it for a couple of minutes first if you don’t want it too crunchy then roll the spears in olive oil and char on a barbecue or hot ridged grill.

Charcuterie

We know we shouldn't. It's fatty, it's salty, it will probably shorten our lives by several years but we love it. Especially at Terroirs (see below) where Fiona B conducted a recent tasting for her fellow wine writers.

Jamie’s mag

Granted, it's got quite a few recipes and chat about the boy wonder but there are some seriously good articles too of the kind you don’t see in other food mags - on Beirut and Damascus in the current issue. The photography and layout are great too - all due, we suspect, to the talented ed, Andy Harris.

Priorat

A big Fiona B obsession at the moment having recently spent 3 days there on a wine trip. Favourite producers: Alvaro Palacios, Clos Mogador and Mas Martinet. Worth visiting a) for the stunning scenery b) because it’s far cheaper to buy the wines on the spot.

Puglia

Because it gives good vegetable dishes. Not that we are dissing meat, far from it - we gaze at gambolling spring lambs and imagine them roasted with slivers of new season's garlic. But it’s just so refreshing to visit restaurants where the humble vegetable plays centre stage (see recent article on Puglia in The Times by Fiona S).

Salted herring and roasted lamb

Yes, together - it works, honest. It's Finland's national dish. Fiona S tried it at the Savoy restaurant in Helsinki - and it messed with her head. Think ultimate shepherd's pie (read about it in her article on Finnish food in the May issue of British Airway's High Life magazine)

Terroirs

OK, we’re not impartial (see our Friends of the Fionas links) but we’re not alone. Most of the UK wine press hangs out in this fab Parisien-style wine bar. Which is where our pictures were taken.
